NLEF: Helping Agencies Nationwide

January 2022

National Law Enforcement Foundation (NLEF) was founded by recently retired San Diego Detectives to directly help agencies address the recruiting and retaining crisis. Board of Directors was created with Chris Gober and Chief of Police David Nisleit.

April 2022

Idaho State Police- Idaho State Police asked for help in building a coalition and effort for Idaho, specifically the Treasure Valley, which is the Boise region. NLEF Received 501c3 status.

June 2022

Published an article highlighting the San Diego Police Officers Association’s project led by NLEF’s Executive Director.

After the DOJ article, calls from rank & file officers poured in asking our team to help their agency navigate how to create the funding path and manage the project. We had to focus on the states that had dedicated Governors and effective state legislators.

Treasure Valley Law Enforcement Coalition is created bringing together the region's LE agencies funded by the Simplot Company.

Presented for Major Cities Chiefs Association. Alerted America's Chiefs, there is a way to retain officers while helping women promote and make agencies attractive to recruits, but we need to create public/private partnerships.

November 2022

NLEF partners with Denver & St. Louis County PD. Develop plans to secure funding for FY2024.

Idaho Governor Little adds public safety childcare funding to his Workforce Development budget proposal.

April 2023

Invited by DOJ/BJA to present in DC on recruiting/retaining solutions & tools and how DOJ can be more helpful to agencies with tangible tools.

NLEF officially broke ground on the highly anticipated St. Louis County Police Childcare Center, marking a significant milestone in our mission to support law enforcement families. This groundbreaking event symbolizes our commitment to providing essential childcare services for those who dedicate their lives to protecting our communities.

A Defining Moment for Law Enforcement Families
NLEF reached a pivotal milestone, turning years of dedication into reality. NLEF officially began enrolling children of St. Louis County Police officers, marking a major step toward providing the essential childcare support law enforcement families need. At the same time, NLEF secured the land to begin construction on the Treasure Valley Childcare Center.

By summer 2025, the St. Louis County center will be fully operational. Meanwhile, construction is underway on the Treasure Valley Childcare Center, with completion set for December 2025. These achievements result from unwavering persistence, tireless advocacy, and an unshakable commitment to those who serve and protect.
